What is the safest way to export Lotus Notes contacts from NSF to VCF without losing fields?

I am migrating old Lotus Notes data and need to move contacts into VCF format. The main concern is preserving all contact fields like email, phone numbers, company info, and photos. Has anyone done an NSF to VCF conversion recently? What worked reliably for you?

Safest way to export Lotus Notes contacts from NSF to VCF without losing fields is avoiding manual export and using a dedicated converter.

Manual export from Lotus Notes works for small address books, but with larger contact lists it often skips fields like secondary phone numbers, company details, images, or custom entries. I ran into this while migrating an old NSF address book where some contacts lost extra numbers and profile details after manual export.

After testing a couple of methods, using a dedicated NSF to VCF converter turned out to be the safest option. I used WholeClear NSF to VCF Converter recently and it exported the full contact database without missing fields.

What made it reliable for preserving contact data:

  • Reads NSF address book directly instead of basic export
  • Keeps all fields intact (emails, multiple numbers, company info, notes, images)
  • Maintains original contact formatting
  • No size limitations for large address books
  • Batch conversion for multiple NSF files
  • Lets you choose output location for VCF

Steps I followed:

  1. Installed and configured Lotus Notes on system
  2. Opened converter and loaded NSF file
  3. Allowed tool to scan contacts
  4. Selected VCF as output format
  5. Exported and verified sample contacts

Tip: Before full export, convert a few contacts first and check all fields like phone numbers, company info, and images. Once confirmed, run full conversion.

If the goal is zero data loss during Lotus Notes migration or backup, using a stable converter is generally safer than manual export because manual method doesn’t always preserve complete contact attributes.
