I am currently using Mozilla Thunderbird email client and is now allowing me open my inbox emails. Even if the if the inbox opens up many of my emails are missing. Though a suggestion of my friend I came to know that my inbox mbox file of Thunderbird has grown too large to handle by the client and the efficient way is to split it. Can anybody explain me how to do it?

This might occur due to large MBOX files, which generally occur if your data is over 2GB. An efficient solution can be to split mbox files into smaller files. You can do so by adding a new folder under the local folder and then moving the files from the heavy folder into the newly created folder. Splitting the data into a manageable size.

However, there can be limitations in the process. Too many split folders can slow down the email client, and the search process can also be affected. Splitting the data on the basis of the subject, date, etc., can be very complex.

The second method uses the application of a professional tool like BitRecover MBOX splitter, which has advanced filters that can help you split on the basis of different parameters like email address, date interval,s etc. The tool also previews the messages to help you verify the data inside the MBOX file. The tool works by importing the MBOX files into the tool, then clicking the save option to select the saving location. Then, select the splitting parameters and click on OK to save the data.
